ISO PAS 28007
UKAS has been running a pilot assessment programme for Certification Bodies that wish to certify Private Security Companies (PSC), who operate either on land or in the maritime environment. The project is sponsored by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, who have stated that the applicable certification standard for the land based PSCs is ANSI/ASIS PSC1. For the maritime sector, certification is to ISO 28000, using ISO PAS 28007 as guidelines.
The need for certification in this area arises from concerns about the quality of the services provided by PSCs. UKAS has worked with the Security in Complex Environments Group (SCEG) which is part of ADS (the UK trade association for the aerospace, defence and security industries) in the development of the UKAS approach to assessment and accreditation to these standards.
