Company Security Officer (CSO) Course

The Company Security Officer (CSO) course develops Ship Security Officers (SSO), security personnel and supervisors into the Company Security Officer role. It focuses on managing the ships within a company’s responsibility and liaison duties with the Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) and Ship Security Officer’s (SSO’s) on security matters concerning ports and ships.

- Organise and ensure that ship security assessments are carried out and the findings used in the ship security plan development.
- Ensure the development, submission for approval and, thereafter, the implementation and maintenance of the ship security plan.
- Identification of threats and vulnerabilities and assessment of security risks.
- Enhance security awareness and vigilance of company staff (ship and shore) while ensuring security communication and co-operation between the ship’s crew, company personnel and contracting governments.
- Undertake internal audits and review security activities.

This training is of value to everyone assigned as a Company Security Officer and those involved in ISPS Code implementation, who are responsible for overseeing fleet security and safety.
This course will train CSOs in the specific responsibilities they are responsible for under the ISPS Code. Successful course participants will hold the basic qualification required to be employed as a Company Security Officer.
