Mauritius and Seychelles will further collaborate in reinforcing cooperation ties with regard to maritime security in our seas and oceans, in addition to initiatives to deepen the friendly longstanding relations between the two countries.
This was at the core of discussions during a meeting between the Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth and the Ambassador of the Republic of Seychelles to the Indian Ocean Islands, with residence in Seychelles, Mr Callixte d’Offay, yesterday at the Treasury Building in Port Louis.
Other issues raised relate to the strategic partnership with a view to further developing the Ocean economy also called Blue economy in Seychelles; marine resources management; fisheries; and the fight against maritime piracy in the Exclusive Economic Zone and the 396,000 square km maritime zone on the Mascarene Plateau co-managed by both countries.
The signing of an Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement between Mauritius and Seychelles was also discussed and both parties expressed interest towards concluding an agreement in that area. The need to concretise a number of joint projects in various sectors of the economy was also highlighted.
