Timber carrier KM Mutiara hijacked in South China Sea

The Indonesian timber carrier KM Mutiara was hijacked by pirates in South China Sea. The vessel was attacked by armed men with fast boats off Palau Bangka island and all the crew members were thrown or jumped overboard. The pirates took over the control of the timber carrier and changed the course to north. The ship KM Mutiara is still with unknown position and course, but supposed that pirates had stolen the valuables from the crew rooms, ship’s office and even maybe cargo.

The report about the hijacked timber carrier was sent from fishermen, who noticed a vessel without lights east off Palau Bangka island and later rescued most of the crew members. The local authorities still deny any information about stolen ship and information is unclear, only based on witness evidences.
