Ten Iranians and two Tanzanians have been charged with smuggling 100kg of heroin in a dhow off the coast of the Tanzanian archipelago of Zanzibar.
The 12 men – age between 21 and 40 – were not asked to plead during a court appearance.
A Tanzanian newspaper says it is the largest quantity of drugs seized since Tanzania’s new anti-drug agency was created in April.
