KARACHI: The National Centre for Maritime Policy Research (NCMPR) hosted two days online workshop in collaboration with International Maritime Bureau (IMB), UK and Maritime Piracy Humanitarian Response Progarmme (MPHRP), UK on August 21-22, 2013 at Bahria University Karachi Campus.
The topic of the workshop was Pre-Departure Piracy Awareness Training. The event was aimed to address the pre-requisites and some of the most apt training requirements for seafarers to deal with the issue of piracy. The experts highlighted the idea that the merely approach to resolve piracy issue is to make seafarers resilient, to provide them sound professional training, ensure application of International regulatory measures and to adopt Best Management Practices (BMPs). staff report
