GALKA’YO (Garsoornews)— An Official says  Armed militias believed to be members of Somali pirates have shot dead the Abdiweli Hassan Hirsi, the police boss of Hobyo district of Mudug region on Thursday.
Confirmed the incident, Hobyo district Mohamed Mohamud Arale told Garsoornews that the police chief was shot dead.
The police chief was killed in a shootout between police and armed militias during a security operation targeted to the pirates in the area and also drug dealers in the district.
Mohamed added that the police are pursuing the suspects and will soon arrest them.
Hobyo district is one the key strongholds of the Somali pirates.
