(BNA) The second regional Interpol course on investigation of maritime piracy opened today. Bahrain and five other Arab and foreign countries are taking part in the three-day event, organized by the Royal Academy of Police (RAP) in cooperation with the International Criminal Police Organization ” ICPO‚ÄìINTERPOL”.
RAP Commander Colonel Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa affirmed the importance of the course in providing the participants with updated practices on investigating maritime piracy crimes which endanger navigation in international waters.
Officers’ Training College Commander Lieutenant-Colonel Ammar Al-Sayyed stressed the need to hold such courses to develop competences specialised in combating maritime piracy. The Head of INTERPOL Maritime Piracy Taskforce Pierre St. Hilaire commended the cooperation with the Interior Ministry, stressing the importance of the course in promoting competences to protect seas and combat maritime piracy.
