Incident Details:
It has been reported that two vessels carrying 12 passengers have been hijacked in the Rivers State. Various passengers reportedly jumped overboard due to the fear of being kidnapped by the hijackers. One female passenger was found dead at the scene afterwards. No information is currently available regarding the outcome of the other passengers and if anyone was abducted.

This is the second incident of a hijacking of a passenger vessel in the Rivers State within the past fortnight. There is limited information regarding the vessels and their passengers. However, from our analysis, it is likely that this was a water taxi carrying local passengers and therefore does not constitute a direct threat to commercial shipping operating in the area. We advise all merchant shipping to remain vigilant.
