Middle East Conflict – Daily Neptune P2P Group update 086 (1600h GST 05 June)

Headlines: Regional tensions remained elevated as Iran and the United States continued to make little progress towards an agreement. Foreign Minister Araghchi confirmed on 4 June that negotiations remain slow, while Supreme Leader Khamenei made his first public remarks since assuming office, declaring victory and warning against foreign activity east of the Euphrates. In Lebanon, Hezbollah formally rejected the 3 June ceasefire framework, describing it as a surrender, even as the Lebanese Armed Forces began deployments into pilot zones and Israel signalled military operations would continue. Maritime conditions remained highly disrupted, with traffic through the Strait of Hormuz operating at less than 5% of historical levels. In Gaza, at least 8–10 people were reported killed on 4 June, including four Hamas officials, while the cumulative death toll since the October ceasefire continued to rise. Meanwhile, Brent crude remained elevated at $95.24 per barrel amid ongoing regional uncertainty.
