Pirates Kidnap Local Chiefs In Bayelsa

Pirates operating in the seemingly volatile Bayelsa waters, yesterday afternoon waylaid two speedboats and abducted three individuals along the Ogbia-Brass waterways in the state.

Confirming the incident to Premium Times, the Bayelsa state police command public relations officer, Asinim Butswat, said he is aware, but added that he was yet to get details.

But a security source said two chiefs in one of the communities around were abducted, and gave their names as Blessing Wagio and Isaac Akono-Igolo.

The victims’ boats  reportedly left the Ogbia water front at about 2pm for Brass when they were attacked around Kiberibio area of the Ogbia-Brass waterway, an area that is a hotbed for notorious sea pirates attacks.
