JTF awaits pirates’ prosecution for killing N’Delta troops

SIMON UTEBOR

The six suspected sea pirates arrested in connection with the killing of four soldiers and one mobile policeman, who were members of the Joint Military Task Force in the Niger Delta, have been handed over to a prosecuting agency.

The five operatives of the JTF were killed on August 7, 2015, when gunmen, suspected to be sea pirates, attacked their (JTF) base in Nembe area of Bayelsa State.

The arrest and move to prosecute the suspects was disclosed to SUNDAY PUNCH by the Coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Centre, JTF, Lt.-Col. Ado Isa, on Friday.

According to Isa, the suspects have been handed over to the relevant prosecuting agency.

However, when pressed further to know the agency in charge of the prosecution, Isa refused to name the agency.
