THE Islamic Republic of Iran has reiterated its commitment to fighting piracy and providing maritime trade security.
Speaking at the reception held on board the Iranian Naval ship on Wednesday night in the city, the ambassador of Iran to Tanzania, Mahdi Jaffari said that the Navy has been dispatched to the area to participate in the mission of maintaining international peace and security.
“Our Navy has announced that it has the capability to maintain security in the North and the West of Indian Ocean, and would not entertain any kind of insecurity,” he said. He also said the Navy has been quite active and effective within the framework of its mission.
The envoy said that the Navy was deployed in the area to ensure safe movement of vessels as well. He further said that his country was committed to strengthen relations in bilateral cooperation.
