Stealth frigate open to public

THE stealth frigate RSS Intrepid has berthed at VivoCity Promenade and is open to the public as part of the Republic of Singapore Navy’s community outreach efforts this year.

It is accompanied by a Sikorsky S-70B Sea Hawk naval helicopter.

The 114m warship had just returned from a three-month counter-piracy operation at the Gulf of Aden in the Arabian Sea.

Members of the public with tickets will be taken on a guided tour around the frigate.

The free tickets are available at a booth in VivoCity, and are only valid for a specific period of time on the date of issue.

Visitors will be able to see key parts of the frigate including its weapons like the Boeing Harpoon missiles and Whitehead torpedoes, which allowed the warship to deal with aerial, surface, and underwater threats.

The ship will be berthed at VivoCity until today. — The Straits Times / Asia News Network
