Nigeria: We’ll stamp out oil thieves ‚Äì Navy boss

Sapele—Flag Officer Commanding, FOC, Nigerian Navy Logistic Command, Oghara, Delta State, Rear Admiral Abdu Shettima, Thursrday, said that the Federal Government will continue to renew its onslaught against oil thieves and all acts of sabotage, pervading Nigerian waterways.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark the 57th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy at the Nigerian Naval Logistics Command, Oghara, Delta State, Shettima, reiterated the determination of the command to deal ruthlessly with oil thieves in the area and ensure steady growth of the country’s economy.

He said the force had recently commissioned and deployed three Ocean and two SHALDOG patrol boats to boost Nigerian Naval fight against illegal bunkering in the Niger Delta water ways.

He added that the Nigerian Navy was irrevocably committed to putting in place a virile fleet that would effectively tackle security challenges in the maritime sector.

He said plans were on to acquire more offshore patrol vessels before the end of the year.

and charged the officers and men of the command to be battle ready in the ongoing onslaught against hoodlums perpetrating different crimes on the waterways across the Nigerian coast.
