By GODFREY BIVBERE

Lagos — Global West Vessel Specialist Limited, has refuted insinuations in the maritime industry that it receives N486 million monthly from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, for the provision of platforms to combat crimes on the nation’s waterways.

Managing Director of the company, Winfred Itima, told Vanguard in Lagos that what the company received was based on the revenue collected by NIMASA from its intelligence reports, monitoring activities in addition to the provision of platforms.

According to him, there was no specific amount paid to his company monthly because the contract stipulated that the company would only be paid if NIMASA surpassed its set revenue benchmark.
