GULF OF ADEN, November 29 (ChinaMil) — Rear Admiral Jiang Zhonghua, commander of the 15th escort taskforce of the Navy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLAN), met and conducted exchanges with Commodore Henning Amundsen, commander of the NATO Combined Task Force 508 (CTF-508), on board of the Chinese amphibious dock landing ship “Jinggangshan” on November 26, local time. It is Commodore Amundsen’s return visit to the Chinese naval escort taskforce.
Rear Admiral Jiang Zhonghua praised the NATO CTF-508’s devotion in anti-piracy operations and expressed gratitude for the assistance that the NATO CTF-508 has provided for the Chinese naval taskforce in its escort and protection missions.
Commodore Amundsen expressed congratulations on behalf of the NATO CTF-508 to the 15th escort taskforce for the achievements it has accomplished in escort missions in the Gulf of Aden. He spoke highly of the Chinese naval taskforce for extending the escort range and actively participating in anti-piracy operations.
Both sides also looked back on the friendly exchanges and cooperation made during the escort missions in the Gulf of Aden and the waters off the Somali coast, and held an in-depth and candid exchanges on further strengthening of communication and cooperation between the naval escort ships from both sides.
After the meeting, the two commanders exchanged souvenirs. Accompanied by Rear Admiral Jiang Zhonghua, Commodore Amundsen toured the amphibious dock landing ship “Jinggangshan”.
