INCIDENT ALERT – Vessel Boarded and Robbed by Armed Group – Guinea |

Incident Details:
The MDAT – GOG has reported that an unnamed vessel was boarded by 4 armed assailants whilst at anchor approximately 15 nm Southwest of Conakry, Guinea. The report states that the armed persons forced the crew to open the safe and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. The vessel and crew are safe.
Neptune P2P Group Analysis:
Comment: This is the second incident in the last 12 months where a vessel has been boarded by armed persons at sea in the vicinity of Conakry. On 14 Sept 22, the cargo vessel Martina was boarded by armed persons in the same location.
Analysis: These incidents indicate that it is likely that an organised gang is operating in the area, who are willing to use the threat of violence to commit their criminal activity. All vessels operating in the area are advised to remain vigilant and employ an appropriate watch system.
