Lagos — The Nigerian Navy has said that it would soon establish an operational base on the Lake Chad to check pirates and oil bunkerers.
Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok Ette-Ibas, disclosed this in Lagos yesterday at a training seminar.
Ibas, who was the special guest of honour, said what the Nigerian Navy had attempted to do was to give a boost to the its surveillance capability, having discovered recently that maritime crimes had gone beyond the conventional ones witnessed in the past.
