Angola: Navy Told to Step Up Fight Against Piracy

Luanda — Angolan minister of National Defence, João Lourenço, Thursday in Luanda urged the Angolan Navy to mount a relentless campaign to fight against illegal immigration, fishing, piracy and human trafficking that threaten maritime safety.

The appeal is expressed in his message of congratulations addressed to the Angolan Navy, ahead of celebration of its 39th anniversary on the 10 July.

João Lourenço said that the Navy should not neglect the training of staff in order to improve their preparedness and training level “for the successful fulfillment of their tough but noble mission.”
